Metropolitan School was founded by a family with over 70 years of experience in private education in Egypt. The late Mr. Fouad Habib established one of the country’s first private schools in 1954, laying the foundation for a legacy of educational excellence. Since then, the family has been dedicated to elevating the standard of education in Egypt.
Mr. Fouad Habib’s contributions were widely recognized. In 1956, he was honored by President Gamal Abdel Nasser, and in 1979, he received the Pioneer of Private Education Badge of Honor from President Anwar El-Sadat for his outstanding impact on the sector.
Carrying forward his father’s vision, Dr. Sameh Fouad Habib modernized the curriculum in 1983 by integrating technology and innovative teaching methodologies. He introduced management information systems and electronics into the curriculum and pioneered Egypt’s first Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Believing in fostering a love of learning, Dr. Habib replaced traditional rote memorization with inquiry-based teaching, encouraging students to think critically. His dedication to private education was further recognized when he was appointed to represent private schools in discussions with Egypt’s Ministry of Education, a position he has held for over 20 years.
In 2015, the third generation of the Habib family continued this legacy with the opening of Metropolitan School, led by Mr. Seif Sameh Habib. Understanding the importance of globalization and multicultural education, he introduced Egypt’s first entrepreneurship program within a school setting. Aligned with Common Core standards, this program is integrated into the American curriculum from KG1, equipping students with the skills needed to navigate an increasingly interconnected world while staying rooted in Egyptian values and culture.
Metropolitan School’s curriculum was originally developed in collaboration with BBD Education, a Dubai-based consultancy with over 20 years of international education experience, ensuring that the school meets the highest global standards.
At Metropolitan School, we continue to shape tomorrow’s leaders by combining a strong academic foundation, innovative entrepreneurial learning, and a deep respect for cultural heritage.
